Director of Engineering

Job Summary

The Director of Engineering role forms a part of The Fifth Avenue Hotel’s executive leadership team. We are seeking an individual with proven success as a proactive leader in a luxury environment to manage the budget, general and preventative maintenance functions, energy conservation, and capital expenditure projects.

The Director of Engineering will possess a background in project management and have the ability to lead the Engineering team and develop strategies to maximize financial performance and achieve maximum guest satisfaction.  

Core Work Activities

• Develop and lead the execution and achievement of the hotel’s preventative maintenance program goals.
• Develop guidelines and provide leadership in energy usage through training and focusing on best practice directives.
• Develop procedures to ensure the security of inventory and assets, and FF&E.
• Lead management on property audits, safety tests, and special capital projects.
• Lead bidding processes, mechanical cataloging, asset preservation recommendations, and preventative maintenance programs and practices.
• Manage departmental staffing and budgeting to ensure proper maintenance of hotel assets.
• Provide guidance and leadership to the Engineering team, and ensure they perform in accordance with the hotel’s standards.  

Desired Qualifications

• College Education preferred. An extensive amount of relevant work experience is required.
• Five years of progressive leadership experience in Engineering. Luxury experience required, new opening experience preferred.

Work Environment

• Practice safe work habits, wear protective safety equipment and follow MSDS and OSHA standards.
• Requires standing for extended periods, walking, pushing, lifting up to 50 pounds, bending and reaching, climbing, stooping, kneeling or crouching.
